Ignitor [Comments]

Interview

Hi Ignitor!
df: First of all you made a great album! the last song "reinheitsgebot" is written in german. from where do do you got this german influences? did you wrote the text? who had the idea?

Thank you. Erika wrote the lyrics in English and our friend Matza from Nurmburg translated. Themetal that germans like is close to what she considers "pure," as compared to all the younger sub-genres of metal we see nowadays.

df: who had the idea to start a band?

Ignitor eveloved from another hard rock band that we had without Erika called T.A.N.G. Once Erika joined we changed our focus to straight metal and so we came up with Ignitor.

df: your music got this typical "80s sound". is this the only kind of metal you prefer? what do you think about death, trash, black and other kinds of metal?

We do like 80s/NWOBHM best but there are great examples of metal across the sub-genres. Our biggest complaint about the new breed is the prevailing emphasis placed on speed and volume at the expenmse of the mainpoint of music - the song. Too may metal bands get popular with little more than a few uber-shredding riffs strung together with down-pitched vocals laid ovet them. This has become so prevalent that many young metalk fans are amazed to learn how important thevocals and melody can be the first time they hear a Priest or Maiden song.

df: metal-scene in the next 5 years (or more)- how do you see it? where do you see yourself?

Dark music will make a comeback in these turbulent times. We will be there to witness.

df: next album?

Early 2009.

df: next time in germany/europe?

Last half of 2008.

df: favourite beer?

Live Oak Pale Ale and Lose Star lager.

df: anything you like to say to your german fans?

Can we import you to Texas? Just kidding - Bush is coming back here next year, you know!!

df: thank you! i hope to see you soon in germany!
